As a result of the approval from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, the Honorable Union Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Radhamohan Singh, inaugurated the Agricultural Science Centre, Parsauni, East Champaran-II on March 7, 2019. In light of the orders from the Bihar government, 25 acres of land have been transferred to Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa, Bihar. The Agricultural Science Centre, Parsouni is located 40 kilometers from the district headquarters, Motihari. It has been established under the administrative control of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa (formerly Rajendra Agricultural University), Samastipur, Bihar. This is the second Agricultural Science Centre in this district after the Agricultural Science Centre, Piparakothi. The objective of this Agricultural Science Centre is to provide need-based training to farmers, which will ultimately lead to entrepreneurial development among unemployed educated rural youth. In terms of infrastructure, there is an administrative building, a farmers' hostel, and a warehouse, along with two smaller buildings. Currently, two submersible pumps are available for irrigation on the farm. The major crops grown in the centre's fields include pigeon pea, rice, wheat, oilseeds, and summer moong. This Agricultural Science Centre is dedicated to providing scientific advisory services and vocational training in agriculture and related fields for the social and economic upliftment of farmers. The scientists at this centre have been continuously working on demonstrating new technologies to farmers and conducting research under various agricultural systems to enhance the institute's distinctiveness.
East Champaran district comprises 27 blocks, of which 11 blocks fall under the jurisdiction of the Agricultural Science Centre, Parsauni, including Paharpur, Harsidhi, Arearaj, Sugauli, Ramgarhwa, Raxaul, Adapur, Banjariya, Narkatia, Bankatwa, and Turkaulia. The East Champaran district of Bihar is situated between 26º 15’ 10” and 27º 01’ 30” North latitude, and 84º 30’ and 84º 17’ 50” East longitude, with an area of 3,968 square kilometers. According to the 2011 census, the total population of the district was 5,099,371, with a population density of 1,285 per square kilometer. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes make up approximately 13% of the total population. The district has good potential for cultivating grains, pulses, fruits, vegetables, medicinal and aromatic plants, as well as livestock, buffalo, goats, poultry, and fish farming.

Conducting “On-farming testing", refining and documenting the technologies for developing region specific sustainable land use systems.
Organize trainings to update the extension personnel within the area of operation with emerging advances in agricultural research on regular basis.
Organize long-term vocational training courses in agriculture and allied vocations for the rural youths with emphasis on "learning by doing” for generating self-employment through institutional financing.
Organize front-line demonstrations in various crops to generate production data and feedback information.
Aims & Objectives
To demonstrate the latest Agricultural Technologies to the farmers as well as the extension workers of the state Department of agriculture/Non-Governmental organization with a view to reduce the time lag between the technologies generation and its adoption.
To test and verify the technologies in the socio economic condition of the farmers and to identify the production constraints.
To get first hand scientific feedback from the fields and passing it to the research system in order to keep the scientist abreast with the performance of the technologies and the farming problems, so that they reorient their research, education and training programmes accordingly.
To impart training to the farmers, farmwomen, rural youth and field level extension functionaries by following the principles of "teaching by doing" and "learning by doing".
To provide training and communication support to the line department of the state/NGOs.
To develop extension models to be adopted by general extension system for large scale multiplications.
